By organizing this nationwide cycling event the people of Takasaki in Gunma prefecture and local volunteer staff welcome you with their OMOTENASHI (hospitality) and would like all riders to enjoy the fun and sport of the challenging course and beautiful landscape in the splendor of nature.

Time Trial Race
Distance: 6.8km
Course: Lake Haruna Tamokuteki Ground > Harunakoso > half turn at Lake Haruna Hot Spring ‘Yusuge’ > Harunakoso > Lake Haruna Tamokuteki Ground (1 lap).
Start type: Individual riders will start at 15 second intervals

Start type:
Riders will be allocated to a group wave based on the predicted finish time they declared. Each group wave of 370 riders will start at 4-5 minute intervals, following the first group wave of Expert riders.
Timekeeping method:
Expert riders=gross time (time starts when the first rider passes through the start point).
Others=net time (time starts when an individual rider passes through the start point).

Team Competition (Team race)

The Team Competition is for 3 racers individually registered in a Hill Climb Race making up a team to compete for the quickest time against other teams on the same course. Entry in only the Team Competition is not possible, and individual registration in the Hill Climb Race is essential.

  • Eligibility: All riders with the exception of Experts must be individually registered for a Hill Climb Race.
  • Participation Quota: None
  • Entry Fee: Free (payment of entry fee for Hill Climb Race is essential)
  • Placings: Decided based on teams’ total times for their 3 riders
  • How to register: Once the 3 members of a team have individually registered for the same course of a Hill Climb Race, the team leader can register separately for the Team Competition. Teams can be mixed male/female and riders can belong to different categories as long as they are competing on the same course.

【Eligibility】

①People who are in agreement with the event requirements and Entry Agreement

②People who meet the following conditions:

Lake Haruna Course/Haruna Jinja Course=Riders who are junior high school age or older and are in good health
Beginners Course=Riders who are junior high school age or older and are in good health
Time Trial Race=Riders who have registered for the Lake Haruna Course, and are able to complete the course within the stipulated finishing time (60 minutes for males/80 minutes for females)

  • ※”Age” refers to the rider’s age on race day.
  • ※Each elementary school student rider must be accompanied by an adult guardian 20 years of age or older.
  • ※Entry for adult guardians of riders is free. However in this case, the accompanying rider will not receive a time, prize or completion certificate. People who require these must register separately for the Beginners Course.
  • ※Participants aged 17 or younger must submit a signed approval from an adult guardian with permission to participate in the event.
  • ※It is not possible to register for only the Time Trial Race.

【Race Check-in】

Location: Lake Haruna Tamokuteki Ground (Takasaki-shi Harunako-machi 845)

※Only the check-in for Time Trial Race riders will be held at Lake Haruna Tamokuteki Ground. If you registered for the Time Trial Race but are unable to participate on the day, go to Haruna Gymnasium to check in for the Hill Climb Race after the Time Trial Race has ended.

※Riders other than those who have registered for the Time Trial Race must select their preferred check-in location from the two locations above. Please note that check-in on race day is not possible at a location other than the one selected in advance. Check-in by a substitute is permitted at both locations. Please present the signed 「Race Number Voucher/Written Pledge」paper.

Awarded to the top male and female rider who has the fastest combined time for the Time Trial Race and the Hill Climb Race.

  • Winners receive: Certificate, prize, medal and Champion Jersey.
2.Glory Line Cup (yowamushi pedal-sho)

Awarded to the top male and female junior high school rider in the Haruna Jinja Course.

  • Winners receive: Commemorative items designed in popular manga “Glory Line” style.

Awarded to the top male and female elementary school rider in the Beginners Course.

  • Winners receive: Commemorative items designed in popular manga “Glory Line” style.
3.Hill Climb Race Individual Awards

【Entry Application Period】

From 13:00 Saturday 19th January to Sunday 31st March 2019

※Entries accepted on a first come, first served basis, and may be closed once participation quotas are reached.
Applications should be done through the event website.

※People without access to an internet connection should call the Event Office for alternative ways to enter.

【Time Limits】

※Checkpoint cutoff times may be adjusted depending on actual race starting times.

※Riders who fail to pass a checkpoint or finish the race by the time limit will be suspended from the race on the spot. Those riders are not permitted to descend the hill by themselves and must take the sweep bus back.

【Bicycle/Equipment Restrictions】

  1. All bicycles used in the Event must be single-rider, fitted with front and rear brakes and the rear wheel must be fitted with a freewheel mechanism.
  2. City bikes (mama-chari) are only permitted on the Beginners Course.
  3. Recumbent bicycles and Pedelec (electric pedal) bicycles are prohibited.
  4. Spinaci handlebars, handlebar attachments, DH handlebars, etc. are prohibited from the Hill Climb races.
    ※Use is permitted in the Time Trial Race.
  5. Regardless of the above restrictions, the organizing committee reserves the right to give special permission for the use of certain equipment.

Road racers, cross bikes, mini-velos, mountain bikes, etc.

《Prohibited Bicycles》
Recumbent, tandem, Pedelec bicycles, etc.

【Special Notices】

  1. Check-in for the Hill Climb races is the day before the race itself. Be sure to complete check-in on that day. Check-in by a substitute is permitted by having the substitute present your signed 「Race Number Voucher/Written Pledge」paper.
  2. There will be a shuttle bus operating on the day before and on race day. The shuttle bus however will not be running at a time suitable for riders in the Time Trial Race, therefore those riders must arrange their own transport to the site.
  3. The use of a helmet (excluding leather/cloth helmets) and the wearing of gloves is mandatory.
  4. Use of video cameras by riders is only permitted if the camera is securely attached to the bicycle. Riders are not permitted to use hand-held cameras while competing.
  5. The use of earphones, speakers, music players and radios, etc. by riders during the race is prohibited.
  6. Riders who are deemed dangerous during the Event by the Organizer will be disqualified.
  7. There will be no official bicycle inspection before the Event, and individual riders are required to take responsibility for their own equipment maintenance, etc. However please note that if race officials find defects or prohibited equipment before the start of the race, the rider risks being disqualified from competition.
  8. The Event may be scaled down or cancelled due to bad weather, etc. endangering riders’ safety.
  9. To prevent theft of property, use a bicycle lock and secure your equipment when leaving it unattended.

【Entry Agreement】

  1. After entry, no cancellation or change of course/category due to the Entrant’s own decision will be accepted. There will be no refunds for overpayment or double payment of entry fees.
  2. Regardless or not of whether compensation is received, the right to participate in the Event cannot be transferred to a third party.
  3. I agree to accept the Organizer’s decision and judgment on matters regarding the scaling down or cancellation of the Event due to earthquake, flooding, criminal incident or accident, or infectious disease, and the related decisions regarding the refunding of fees, amount of fees to be refunded, and method of announcing changes, etc.
  4. I declare that I do not suffer from a heart condition or other illness, that I have trained sufficiently for the Event and I therefore accept personal responsibility for my health condition and any injury, accident or loss I might suffer as a result of taking part in the Event.
  5. During the Event I will obey promptly any order by the Organizer to suspend a race if the Organizer deems that continuing would be hazardous. I will also obey any orders pertaining to event safety management and event organization.
  6. I will not object to first aid treatment for any illness or injury incurred during the Event. I understand that the Organizer will not accept any responsibility for the method or outcome, etc. of such treatment.
  7. I absolve the Organizer of responsibility for any accident, loss, injury or illness, etc. that I may suffer during the Event, and I will not make a claim for compensation for damages.
  8. I acknowledge that any compensation for accident or injury incurred during the Event will be limited to coverage under the Event’s insurance policy.
  9. My immediate family, relatives, adult guardian (in the case where the participant is a minor), and team members (in the case where the participant is a member of a team) give consent for me to participate in the Event.
  10. I will not make any false declaration of age, gender, etc. or allow another rider to participate in the race using my name (use of a substitute rider). In the event that any of these things are found to have taken place, the Organizer’s decision to refuse participation, revoke awards, deny the right to future participation, etc. is final. I acknowledge that the Organizer will not be held responsible for first aid or the refund of monies resulting from a false declaration of age, gender, etc. or the use of a substitute rider.
  11. I consent to video footage, photos, news articles, records, etc. (including the use of personal information such as name, age, gender, race time, images, etc.) being reported, published and/or used by newspapers, on TV, magazines, on the internet, in pamphlets, etc. The publishing/usage rights of such material shall belong to the Organizer.
  12. The personal information of the Entrant will be handled according to the separate Organizer’s Agreement.

【Handling of Personal Information】

The Organizer recognizes the gravity of handling personal information, and will strictly adhere to personal information protection laws and related ordinances and will handle all personal information in accord with its Personal Information Policy. In order to provide services to Event participants, the Organizer will use the personal information of Entrants to send participation information and related documents, notices of future events, information about special services offered by Event sponsors and supporters, announcement of results (rankings, etc.). The Organizer or its contractors may contact the Entrant to confirm information regarding application details.

【Insurance】

Injury Insurance for Entrants

  • Death/permanent disability 2,000,000yen
  • Hospitalization (per day) 3,000yen (From day of accident, including that day for a total of 180 days)
  • Hospital visits (per day) 2,000yen (as above)

※Injury insurance covers only injuries (cuts/bone fractures, etc.) and excludes malaise and illnesses such as anemia.

※Insurance excludes any damages, loss, theft etc. of bicycles (frames and parts), even those which occur during the race.
